Cher, I am here to tell you that there isn’t a more talented and ingenious group of people than Cajuns. The work/play ethic of this south Louisiana culture is thriving thanks to so many young people keeping it alive. No one did more than my friend George Rodrigue to draw attention to what could be lost if these precious stories weren’t told and passed down. Blue Dog is an iconic legacy that provides a timeless window into this world and many others though those yellow eyes. The George Rodrigue Foundation continues the work he began with it’s important mission of helping young artists thrive and continue to tell their own stories of culture.
Dimensions: 12x16 oil on clayboard
The magic of the 12x16 original paintings comes from the artist laying down and removing oil paint during his process.
Garland uses different techniques to achieve the mysterious results, always experimenting and letting the music guide his brushes. Most pieces are painted on clay fired boards that are set into substantial wooden cradles creating a ready to hang work of art.
